The Story of the Black Java Chicken Rescue Mission:

When Cluster Flock Farm first gathered a small flock of Black Java chickens from western North Carolina, no one knew what hurricane Helene would do to that entire region just four days later. We had previously considered postponing our trip, but God encouraged us to push through and keep our travel plans. We had no idea how critical that mission trip would become! 

The Java is an ancient breed of chicken and, according to the Livestock Conservancy, the second oldest breed in the US. Originally from Java, they were introduced into early American settlements because of the many attributes of this heritage breed. Now listed with the Livestock Conservancy, the breed standard was accepted in 1883. 

At Cluster Flock Farm, we are wholly dedicated to preserving our heritage for our future by nurturing our heritage breed livestock and heirloom crops. We share our mission with our community through preservation, propagation, and education.

Black Javas are the second oldest breed of chicken in America with the oldest being the endangered Dominque breed (also protected here at our farm).

Super Black Java coffee was born from our love for our Black Java chickens and our love of coffee (our beans are craft roasted right here in Bowdon, GA). This smooth, dark roast will get you goin' and crowin' before the break of dawn!
